The value of TARGET2 payments in Eurozone declined overall during the period from 2008 to 2021. The decline was especially apparent in 2013, when it dropped from around 634 trillion euros the previous year down to around 493 trillion euros. The value in 2021 was approximately 484.25 trillion euros.
TARGET2 (Trans-European Automated Real-time Gross Settlement Express Transfer System) enables processing of large transactions executed in euro among banks in the European Union.
