According to a survey on online news consumption behavior conducted in India in 2023, the travel and science genres were the leading non-core news content consumed by 52 percent of respondents. Comparatively, only 32 percent of respondents chose to consume astrology content on online news sites. On average, Indian online news readers consumed roughly four non-core content genres that year.
