According to a survey about the movie consumer behavior in China released in April 2022, over 60 percent of respondents said they watched movies on online movie platforms between one and four times a month. The same survey found out that more respondents preferred content on short video apps and video streaming sites to movies in cinemas.

Among the respondents, 52.8% were males and 47.2% were females; 33.3% were 25 years old or below and 66.7% were older than 25 years; 13.8% lived in tier-1 cities, 44.9% in tier-2, 19.5% in tier-3, and 21.8% were from tier-4 cities.
