According to a panel survey on tobacco consumption conducted between July and August 2022 by Rakuten Insight, the largest share of respondents in Japan, 23 percent, were smoking cigarettes of the Mevius brand. Marlboro was the leading imported and the second most popular cigarette brand, named by 8.7 percent of respondents.
