In a comparison of select virtual reality (VR) headsets, the Meta Quest 3S device featured with a weight of 514 grams. This is lower than other VR headsets, such as Apple Vision Pro, which had a weight of 809 grams. 

Apple’s arrival to the market acting as a catalyst?

While consumer uses cases such as gaming and video entertainment remain popular, the arrival of Apple and other companies to the market may have been viewed as a catalyst toward greater enterprise adoption of XR. Manufacturing, e-commerce, and healthcare are just some of the sectors exploring extended reality (XR). With this in mind, companies have taken different approaches to XR, particularly the markets being targeted.

While Apple’s Tim Cook has argued that one day, we will wonder how we led our lives without augmented reality, Mark Zuckerberg has dreams for the metaverse – a concept that revolves around VR technology. While the obvious battlegrounds around price and performance among XR headset vendors will remain, Apple’s entrance to the market signified the start of a new battle in the tech industry.
