U.S. points of contacts in fraud incidents 2023
In 2023, around a quarter of fraud reports in the United States were contacted via e-mail. Phone call scams ranked as second most common point of contact between fraudulent actors and the U.S. public. In contrast, 13 percent of all frauds reported during the year took place via website or apps. Social media frauds comprised about 12 percent of all reported fraud cases in in the United States in 2023.
