Consumer interest in news sources on social media in in the U.S. 2021
A study held in the United States in early 2021 found that mainstream news outlets and journalists were the news source paid most attention to among social media news consumers, with 37 percent of Twitter users citing these as their main focus when getting news via the platform, and over 20 percent of Facebook and YouTube news users said the same. However, 18 percent of respondents using YouTube for news said that they paid most attention to internet personalities when finding news there, and 17 percent looked most at news content posted by ordinary people.
