China was, perhaps unsurprisingly, Alibaba's leading market, with net e-commerce sales estimated at 700 billion U.S. dollars in 2021. According to forecasts, the company's online sales in its home country would further rise in the coming years, reaching around 1.3 trillion dollars by 2026. In addition, projections suggest that Russia and Spain would remain in second and third place, respectively.
