Organic vegetable production share Japan FY 2015-2022
In fiscal year 2022, organic vegetables accounted for 0.39 percent of total vegetable production in Japan. The share remained far below one percent since fiscal year 2015.
Agricultural produces distributed as organic foods in Japan have to be certified under the Organic Japanese Agricultural Standards (JAS) system or a comparable system in the case of imported products. The certification is done by auditors accredited by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
