In 2021, the travel accommodation industry contributed nearly 845 billion Mexican pesos to the country's gross domestic product (GDP), showing an increase of approximately 60 percent versus the value recorded a year earlier. The second quarter accounted for the sharpest growth as the industry's contribution to GDP went from 24.2 billion in 2020 to only 206.4 billion pesos in 2021.
