Type of fairs projected worldwide 2021, by region
During the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, exhibition companies worldwide canceled several in-person events and explored digital formats in 2020 and 2021. According to a June 2021 study, 15 percent of exhibition fairs in Europe were planned as virtual events in 2021, and 32 percent of fairs in the Asia and Pacific region were organized as hybrid events. Meanwhile, 52 percent of North American exhibition fairs were projected to take place in person in 2021.
