The brand Taj Hotels came into existence in 1903, when the iconic Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Mumbai was inaugurated. It was founded by Jamsetji Tata, who was also the founder of TATA Group. Today, Taj Hotels is part of the Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), a subsidiary of the TATA Group.
