A majority of truck drivers, at about 71 percent, were dissatisfied with their professions due to low or irregular income according to a survey on the status of truck drivers across India in 2020. It was found that the truck drivers were not compensated adequately for the number of hours they worked. Over 15 percent of the truck drivers were not satisfied as their profession did not yield any respect in the society across the south Asian country.
