The Diablo Canyon Power Plant, run by PG&E, withdrew 756 billion gallons of saltwater in 2019. The nuclear power plant pulls saltwater from the Pacific Ocean in Southern California as its cooling source. Other facilities withdraw freshwater, including the company's three natural gas generating stations - Gateway, Colusa and Humboldt Bay generating stations.
