In 2022, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (Europe) S.A. reported an overall net loss of roughly 145 million euros. This was by far the largest loss in the observed period. The European division of the world's biggest bank has been located and registered in Luxembourg since 1999, becoming the European headquarters in 2011. It has branches in multiple European cities, like Amsterdam, Milan, Lisbon, Brussels, Barcelona, Madrid and Warsaw. Several Asian financial institutions, such as China Everbright, established themselves in Luxembourg to gain access to the EU internal market.
