Rio de Janeiro is the leading crude oil producing state in Brazil, accounting for more than 85 percent of the country's production in 2023, with nearly 1.06 billion barrels produced. The state of São Paulo trailed in second, with an output of 90.61 million barrels that year. Brazil's crude oil production is mainly concentrated offshore.
