Josef Walter (27 October 1925 – 16 March 1992) was an Austrian footballer.[1] He competed in the men's tournament at the 1952 Summer Olympics.[2]

He started playing football for the Wiener Sportclub. In 1947 he debuted in the highest class. After only three matches he went on to First Vienna FC. There he won the championship in the 1954-55 season. The last matches of his career he made for 1. Simmeringer SC.

After his career he became a succesful car dealer. In 1959 he became Vice president of FK Austria Wien. He made plans for the professionalization of Austrian football. 1963 he retired from football but in 1964 he came back as coach of the Austrian national football team together with Bela Guttmann.

In his time as President of FK Austria Wien the club became the first team with advertising on the jerseys. He stayed as President with Austria Wien till his death in the year 1992.
