The group has officially shut down as of March 8, 2023. This is most likely due to the group owner being terminated, but we cannot be certain of that.

Bakiez was a bakery roleplay group on Roblox. It was founded in 2017 by Voulge and Deilghtful. It was an American-based bakery that offers a variety of pastries, snacks, drinks, and much more. It was owned by Gulfstreamed and Military_Duffle.

The Bakiez company tagline was "one muffin leads to happiness."

History, development, and stats[]

Bakiez was founded in 2017 by Jonathan Johnson (a.k.a Voulge), and his brother, Deilghtful. Bakiez Bakery Version 1 was developed and released in that same year, with an average playerbase of 30 active players per day. As the playerbase and group grew, the group became increasingly in need of a new version. Bakiez V1's last day was on the 25th Nov 2017, with the release of Bakiez Version 2 immediately following the next day. Bakiez V2 would end up as the main version of Bakiez from 2017 to 2020, becoming Bakiez's most popular version, with an average of 50 players per day from 2017 to 2019. In this timespan, the Bakiez community started to increase in activity, with multiple Twitter posts and YouTube Videos popping up increasingly often during this time period.

By the end of 2019, leading into early 2020, Bakiez had established itself as one of the most successful and ever-growing roleplay groups on Roblox, with a total of 400,000 group members as of February 2020.

Due to the raging COVID-19 pandemic and the rise of online working/schooling, with lockdowns in place, Bakiez would reach its peak popularity in the year of 2020. In the span of three months (February-May 2020), Bakiez would achieve 700,000 members in the span of three months, becoming one of the fastest growing Roblox groups in history. At peak hours, the main game would be averaging around 130 concurrent players per day. This cemented Bakiez Bakery's reputation in the vast variety of Roblox roleplay groups, becoming one of the most popular Roblox roleplay restaurant games during that time period.

During the span of 2020, Bakiez Bakery Version 3 was constantly under development, with consistent sneak peeks being released in the Discord Server. It should be noted that V3 had been under development for two years at this point, however, multiple variations of the map were gutted out and rebuilt several times. The entire V3 restaurant was built and given for free to Bakiez by Tremblu (formerly known as DrBigWallet/Morellos); the founder and former owner of Breezy’z, which was then edited to the design language of Bakiez. In May 2020, Voulge made a DevForum post about the future of Bakiez and what was to be expected of V3. Bakiez Bakery V2 officially closed down in December 2020, which was immediately proceeded by the release of Bakiez Bakery V3 (Bakiezville).

Bakiez Bakery V3 was developed by Voulge, askreno, and ArkhieDev. Bringing a new concept to the table, Bakiez V3 was marketed differently - instead of being a pure bakery and restaurant, an entire town was built around it. The town consisted of multiple sections, such as Muffin Park, Zzaruh Square, and the incomplete Bakiez Village. This led to the creation of an entirely different sub-group, the Bakiezville City Hall. It was also stated that V3 would be the last version of Bakiez. While it was expected to become a commercial success, the new version fell flat. Within a week of its release, Bakiez noted significant player drops, from around 100 concurrent players at peak times, to around 20 concurrent players at peak times. The main reason for this is most likely due to the raging flaws in V3 - flaws such as up to 85 orders being input at once, gamepasses not being transferred from V2 to V3, an incomplete Bakiez game, and a lack of customers.

In May 2021, Voulge announced that he will be retiring and resigning from Bakiez and the Roblox Platform. This led to the playerbase of Bakiez being killed off, having 0 concurrent players in October 2021. Ownership was transferred to Anareloux, the owner of clothing group Kestrel. Under her direction, she had noticed the flaws in V3 and aimed to fix them with a brand new version, V4. In 2022, the old version of Bakiez V2 was brought back due to demand, however, the game still had zero concurrent players.

A year later, in June 2022, Voulge sold the group to mythhyy for real life money, which led to the resignation of Anareloux and the halt of development progress for Bakiez Bakery V4. Gulfstreamed was made the new group holder, and aimed to use the group for other purposes, resulting in the deletion of the Bakiez Discord and a group shout stating that "Bakiez is officially closed, sorry all." The reason for this is unknown.

As of 2023, Gulfstreamed has been terminated for unknown reasons, sealing Bakiez's fate as an inactive group.

Incidents and controversies[]

Ownership transfer[]

On June 5, 2022, the former Bakiez Chairman Voulge, who still owned the group, transferred ownership of the group to mythhyy after allegedly selling it for real-life money. This sparked controversy among many Bakiez members and staff, including the Chairwoman Anareloux, as the ownership transfer had occurred without any sort of notice to group members.[1]

Following the incident, many Bakiez members and staff including Anareloux moved to the newly created group "Kestriez", named after Kestrel. For a short period, the holder account that owned Bakiez was terminated, but this was later reversed.

Prior to the incident, version four of the Bakiez Bakery game was in development, led by Anareloux. However, after the incident occurred, development on the new version was transferred to Kestriez instead.
