Abstract

Two signals are correlated in a properly programmed digital computer to render a result reflecting the difference in time of arrival of the two signals at separate receiving stations from a common emitter station. Signals received at each of the receiver stations are converted into digital data and transmitted via a data link to a central correlation station. At the central correlation station, the individual digital signals are checked for magnitude and power content prior to conversion into the frequency domain by a fast Fourier transform. Previously stored calibration data from each of the receiver stations is combined with the frequency domain data to provide corrected information for correlation to determine the difference in time of arrival of signals from a common emitter station.

Abstract

Systems and methods for repairing Thermo-Span gas turbine engine components are described herein. Embodiments of these methods minimize post-weld residual stresses in a weld repaired Thermo-Span component by solution heat treating the component by heating the component to about 2000 F. 25 F. , holding the component at about 2000 F. 25 F. for about one hour; and cooling the component to below about 700 F. at a rate equivalent to cooling in air; and precipitation heat treating the component by heating the component to about 1325 F. 25 F. , holding the component at about 1325 F. 25 F. for about 8 hours, cooling the component to about 1150 F. 25 F. at a maximum rate of about 100 F. /hour, holding the component at about 1150 F. 25 F. for about 8 hours, and cooling the component at a predetermined cooling rate.

Abstract

A thermal mechanical processing sequence for application to alpha-two type titanium is discussed. A typical alloy composition is 14% aluminum, 23% niobium, 2% vanadium, and balance titanium. Tensile ductilities in excess of 10% and up to about 40% are provided in this material by a processing sequence which includes multiple working steps below the beta transus with intervening thermal anneals also at temperatures below the beta transus. Typical rolling start temperatures would be on the order 954. degree. C. (1750. degree. F. ). Typical annealing temperatures range from 732. degree. C. (1350. degree. F. ) to 954. degree. C. (1750. degree. F. ).
