Yeast PIR proteins repeats signature and profile

Description

A number of yeast cell wall glycoproteins are characterized by the presence of tandem repeats of a region of 18 to 19 residues [1,2,3]. These proteins are:

  • CCW7 (9 repeats).
  • CCW11 (1 repeat).
  • CWP2 or LPR1.
  • PIR1 or CCW6 (8 repeats).
  • PIR2 or HSP150 (11 repeats).
  • PIR3 or CCW8 (10 repeats).
  • TIR1 or SRP1 (1 repeat) (see <PDOC00596>).
  • TIR2 or SRP2 (1 repeat) (see <PDOC00596>).
  • Hypothetical protein YHR126c (1 repeat).
  • Hypothetical protein YJL160c (4 repeats).

The core region of the repeat is highly conserved and is used here as a signature pattern. We also developed a profile that spans the complete repeat.

Last update:

December 2001 / Text revised; profile added.
