PROSITE documentation PDOC00718Yeast PIR proteins repeats signature and profile
Description
A number of yeast cell wall glycoproteins are characterized by the presence of tandem repeats of a region of 18 to 19 residues [1,2,3]. These proteins are:
- CCW7 (9 repeats).
- CCW11 (1 repeat).
- CWP2 or LPR1.
- PIR1 or CCW6 (8 repeats).
- PIR2 or HSP150 (11 repeats).
- PIR3 or CCW8 (10 repeats).
- TIR1 or SRP1 (1 repeat) (see <PDOC00596>).
- TIR2 or SRP2 (1 repeat) (see <PDOC00596>).
- Hypothetical protein YHR126c (1 repeat).
- Hypothetical protein YJL160c (4 repeats).
The core region of the repeat is highly conserved and is used here as a signature pattern. We also developed a profile that spans the complete repeat.
Last update:December 2001 / Text revised; profile added.
