York wiped from record books
Mick Docherty was picked up by Sheffield Eagles after York's collapse
Docherty was one Wasp who found a new club
The Rugby Football League has expunged York Wasps' 2001-2002 record following their withdrawal from the Northern Ford Premiership.

The Wasps folded in March after the directors decided the club was no longer financially viable.

Supporters' efforts to mount a rescue attempt have been put on hold until next season.

York won just one of their 11 league matches, a home game against Chorley, and were next to bottom of the table when the directors pulled the plug.

Because the Premiership clubs do not all play each other home and away, York's demise has forced League officials to introduce five additional fixtures to produce an even competition of 27 games.

"Given the circumstances, we believe this to be the most fair and equitable method of operating for the remainder of the season," RFL executive chairman Richard Lewis said.
