Division Three play-off semi-final, 2nd leg

Leyton Orient 2-0 Hull City (agg: 2-1)

A sensational strike from Matt Lockwood finally saw off dogged Hull and won Leyton Orient a place in the Division Three play-off final for the second time in three seasons.

Orient overturned a 1-0 first leg deficit through Steve Watts' headed opener and Lockwood's rocket sealed the victory.

The Os took the lead a minute before the interval as a Hull breakaway was stopped in its tracks.

Scott Houghton picked out the unmarked Watts, who powered home a header from 10 yards.

Flapped at high ball

Although Tommy Taylor's side bossed the first period, Tigers goalkeeper Paul Musselwhite was forced into only one save, tipping over team-mate Andy Holt's looping header.

It could easily have been the visitors who had been in front when home keeper Ashley Bayes misjudged a Jon Whitney free-kick and fumbled it around a post.

Orient continued to dominate on the resumption and Walschaerts was only inches too high with a lob after Musselwhite flapped at a high ball.

But the Hull stopper redeemed himself with a save of the highest quality from a Lockwood free-kick.

He followed that with a sprawling stop at the feet of Jabo Ibehre but he was powerless to stop Lockwood's next 30-yarder.

Leyton Orient: Bayes, Joseph, Lockwood, Smith, McGhee, Downer, Ibehre, Castle, Walschaerts, Watts, Houghton. Subs: Barrett, Harris, Brkovic, Martin, Tate.

Hull: Musselwhite, Edwards, Whitney, Whittle, Greaves, Matthews, Atkins, Brabin, Holt, Francis, Eyre. Subs: Wilson, Philpott, Brown, Rowe, Wood.

Referee: D Pugh (Bebington).
