Oxford Utd 1-1 Crawley Town

Tyrone Barnett's last-minute goal rescued a point for league leaders Crawley against Oxford United.

Oxford had looked set for victory when former Red Devils striker Jon-Paul Pittman put keeper Scott Shearer under pressure and slotted home.

The play-off chasing hosts had chances to kill the game off, with Alfie Potter and James Constable both forcing saves from Shearer.

But the visitors salvaged a draw when Barnett smashed home from 12 yards out.

Crawley are now one point clear of Cheltenham at the top of the table, while Oxford remain eighth.

Pittman's goal came just three weeks after he returned from a three-month loan spell with the Red Devils.

Oxford manager Chris Wilder told BBC Radio Oxford:

"I'm desperately disappointed. I thought we defended magnificently in the second half. We were three or four minutes away from earning another clean sheet and another three points.

"I think naivety has cost us because in the last 10 minutes I thought we had seen the game out. But one long ball and a lack of concentration cost us victory.

"We've got to be a bit more streetwise. We should have kept the ball up their end of the pitch and in the corner. That is a game we should have seen out."

Crawley manager Steve Evans told BBC Sussex:

"We can't talk about Scott Shearer's mistake. They happen, even in the Premiership. It was a big error, but Scott's an honest boy. He's the first to come in and put his hands up.

"But if we wanted a test of character and all the words that you can associate with spirit and belief in wanting to win football matches, all that happens when they scored their goal.

"I think we were the best team by far today, and on another day we would win quite confortably, but we didn't get many breaks."
