Sudan's president Omar al-Bashir has told the BBC that he divided Sudan for peace but claims the disputed region of Abyei is a source of potential conflict with newly independent South Sudan.
Abyei remains part of Sudan but Mr Bashir insisted that any attempt to undermine the terms of a protocol signed between the two countries could lead to renewed conflict.
