New Castle, DE – New Castle County Executive Matt Meyer announced that the process for applying for the New Castle County Scholarship is now open. New Castle County traditional and non-traditional students who are currently enrolled in or will attend an accredited college in the Fall of 2021 are encouraged to apply online. Interested students can visit http://scholarship.nccde.org to apply.
“College graduates benefit our communities in various ways through higher rates of civic engagement, volunteerism and voter turnout, and together that leads to stronger and healthier communities,” said County Executive Meyer. “These scholarships will help students access their goal of becoming a college graduate.”
To be eligible, students must reside in New Castle County (including the City of Wilmington or other municipalities), must demonstrate financial need through the following documents (FAFSA student aid report, W2, pay stubs, benefits verification letter or statement), must be pursuing or currently enrolled in an accredited post-secondary undergraduate degree, or a graduating senior who has been accepted to attend an accredited post-secondary degree program starting in Fall, 2021 and must participate in an interview by an independent board who will select the winners. Family members (of the applicant) who are also enrolled in post-secondary degree programs are encouraged to apply.
Deadline to apply is Friday, March 26, 2021. A committee of local educators and community leaders will review applications. Finalists will be invited to interview with the scholarship committee starting in April and winners will be invited to an awards ceremony in June.
