New Castle County Libraries announced Thursday that they are accepting submissions for the annual statewide teen literary magazine published by the county.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for young writers, poets, artists and photographers to have their works published,” said General Manager Sophia Hanson of the Department of Community Services.
“We’re proud to highlight the creativity of our young residents,” she said, “and they love the party we throw for them when the magazine is published.”
Submissions for the literary magazine called IMAZINE – pronounced “I’m-a-ZEEN” -- will be accepted through the end of November.
Delaware residents ages 12 through 19 are invited to submit short stories, poetry, essays, book reviews and other nonfiction, along with photography and other artworks. There is a 1,500-word maximum for written submissions and a limit of three submissions in each category per person.
The sixth annual edition of IMAZINE will be released in print and online in March 2017, with a release party to celebrate its publication. All those whose works are published will get a copy of the printed magazine at the party and copies will be available after that for checkout at all New Castle County Libraries.
Following the IMAZINE tradition, all accepted submissions will be published in the online magazine and the printed version will include the top submissions as selected by a panel of New Castle County Libraries’ staff.
Detailed directions for submissions and the required parent/guardian release form are posted at www.nccde.org/371/IMAZINE.
The same site has all five previous editions of IMAZINE posted for free reading.
Questions about IMAZINE may be called to Library Specialist Julia Tucker at the Claymont Library, (302) 798-4164, ext. 210.
