The USS Europa (NCC-80104) was a 24th[4] and 25th century Federation starship, a Luna-class recon science vessel[3] in Starfleet service by the 2400s decade. (PIC episode: "The Star Gazer")

Service history and disposition[]

Europa at the anomaly

The Europa in 2401.

Starfleet launched the first batch of Luna-class starships in the year 2379, all named after moons in the Sol star system, including the new Europa. This vessel was named for Jupiter's moon Europa. (TTN novel: Taking Wing Luna Class Concept Notes)

In the 2370s, Starfleet categorized Luna-class ships as tactical heavy cruisers. (Instagram - Star Trek Logs - Picard post: U.S.S. Titan - Starship Record)

In the year 2401, the USS Stargazer investigated a spatial anomaly discovered by the USS Avalon. After a massive Borg ship emerged from the anomaly, the Europa joined the armada Starfleet assembled to reinforce the Stargazer and Admiral Jean-Luc Picard. When the Borg Queen boarded the Stargazer, the Borg Collective attempted to seize control of the fleet. Picard self destructed the Stargazer to stop the Borg and save the armada. (PIC episode: "The Star Gazer")

Q dispatched Admiral Picard on a time travel mission. Following the return of Picard and his team from an alternate timeline and the past, the timeline changed to prevent the self-destruct. The Borg Queen was revealed to be an older version of Agnes Jurati, who had remained in the past. Jurati's Borg and Picard's armada, including the Europa, moved in formation to dissipate an energy burst that emerged from a newly-formed transwarp conduit. Queen Jurati and her ship remained to guard the conduit. (PIC episode: "Farewell")

On Frontier Day in April 2401, the Europa was one of 36 Luna-class starships participating in the parade and demonstration of fleet formation mode at Sol Station in Earth's orbit. The vengeful Borg Queen of the primary universe Borg Collective assimilated the fleet and its younger crew and began attacking Sol Station. (PIC episode: "Võx")

Admiral Picard and the USS Titan-A intervened, stopping the queen's plan and restoring Starfleet's control over its ships. (PIC episode: "The Last Generation")

In 2410, Starfleet launched the Europa-class heavy battlecruiser prototype USS Europa, introducing a class named after Europa. (STO website: The Stats of the Europa Class!)
