The Sentinel-class was a type of star cruiser in service in the early 25th century. (ST video game: Star Trek Online)

History[]

The Sentinel-class was designed to be the flagship of a fleet or to provide support for the most difficult missions. (ST video game: Star Trek Online)

The Sentinel-class had entered service by 2405, when the USS Montgomery Scott was present for the opening salvos of the Federation-Klingon War. The Scott was damaged in the battle for Korvat colony but was later repaired. (ST website: The Path to 2409)

Technical data[]

In contrast to the Sovereign-class and its variants the Sentinel-class was more defensive in nature and featured reduced offensive combat abilities. Instead the design was focused on engineering and scientific potential. (ST video game: Star Trek Online)

Mirror universe[]

The Sentinel-class was also present in the mirror universe under Terran Empire command. This version featured enhanced tactical capabilities over its counterpart at the expense of scientific powers. It was a strong match for the Federation Sovereign-class. (ST video game: Star Trek Online)

At Star Trek Online's launch this skin for the star cruiser was called Avenger-class. With the 2013 release of the Avenger-class battlecruiser, however, it was retconned as the Sentinel-class.
