Resthenar "Thenar" sh'Prenni is an Andorian shen who served in the Andorian Imperial Guard and later the Federation Starfleet in the 22nd century.

History

At one point in her career, sh'Prenni served under then-Commander Shran in the Andorian Imperial Guard, and became his protegee.

In 2160, she served on as the IGS Thalisar's first officer and fought in the Battle of Cheron alongside the Coalition forces. (ENT - Rise of the Federation novel: Live by the Code)

After the founding of the United Federation of Planets in 2161, Thenar was commissioned as a Captain in Starfleet and commanded the USS Vol'Rala, a Kumari-class battleship named after the Andorian word for "Enterprise". She got some fame after commanding a task force that eliminated piracy in the Kandari sector after the United Rigel Worlds and Colonies was admitted into the Federation.

In April 2165, Thenar was assigned into Captain Malcolm Reed's task force, which was charged with assisting the USS Pioneer with its investigation of the Ware. In the following months she participated in multiple engagements, including the battle for the Ware hub complex. (ENT - Rise of the Federation novel: Uncertain Logic)

In October 2165, sh'Prenni died with the rest of crew, protecting the fleeing citizens of the Partnership of Civilizations planet Cotesc from an invading Klingon fleet.

Later that year sh'Prenni and her crew would be honored for their sacrifice with a monument in the city of Laikan on Andoria. The sacrifice sh'Prenni and her crew made led Chief of Staff Admiral Jonathan Archer to cancel plans for Starfleet to construct the first Federation starship Enterprise, wanting that name to be left in honorable retirement for a while.
