The Remora-class was a type of escort in service to the Federation in the 23rd century.

History and specifics

861 Remora-class ships were built, 620 of which were of the Mk. II version introduced on reference stardate 2/0509. As of 2/2306, 32 Remora-class ships were constructed annually at the Sol VI shipyards. At that time, 380 Remoras continued to serve in active duty, 292 were relegated to reserve fleets and 8 served under the Starfleet Training Command. 137 had been lost in the line of duty, either destroyed, captured by Klingons or Romulans or simply disappeared. 30 of the ships had been scrapped and 14 had been sold to private commercial concerns. The spaceframe was later converted into a destroyer by Commodore Joseph R. Holman. The Charger class variant, which appeared to be identical to the weaker Remora on external visual scans, entered service on reference stardate 2/2007. (Stardate Magazine vol. 3, 1987, Issue 1: "Charger-class")
