The lion (Panthera leo) was a Terran animal of the Felidae (cat) family. Though carnivorous hunters, lions were depicted in several Human cultures as strong and noble beasts, and dubbed as the "king of the jungle."

The Leo constellation, and the numerous astronomical objects bearing the name "Leo," are named for the lion.
