Ilthirin class

The Ilthirin-class was a type of high-speed courier starship that was in service in the 22nd century, first in the Andorian Imperial Guard, and later in the Federation Starfleet.

History[]

The class was put into service some time in the 22nd century by the Imperial Guard. When the United Federation of Planets was formed and the member nation's space services were integrated these vessels were transferred over to Starfleet authority.

In the year 2165, two Ilthirin class couriers were assigned to Captain Malcolm Reed's task force, which was charged with learning everything they could about the Ware and their creators and stopping them. Because of their fast speed, they were charged with supplying the USS Pioneer with spare parts, medical relief and transport and to serve as subspace relays between Pioneer and the task force. Later, when the entire task force was sent into Ware space, these couriers ferried away rescued victims from Ware facilities. After the mission as concluded, they returned to Federation space.
