The Eav'oq were an ancient non-humanoid Gamma Quadrant civilization who, like the Bajorans, worship the Prophets—whom the Eav'oq identify as "Siblings". They were native to Idran IV of the Idran system in the Idran sector.
History and specifics[]
Physiology[]
The Eav'oq were tall, their bodies were tube-like and they had long slender, willowy tentacle-like limbs, and were pink in color. Their narrow faces featured a single eye which can move to express emotion much like the mouths of most humanoids. The Eav'oq had male and female sexes which can be differentiated by the color of an individual's eye, with a male's eye being a soft gray. When the Eav'oq breathe, two of their lower, thicker limbs expanded and contracted. (DS9 novel: Rising Son)
History[]
About fifty millennia ago, the Eav'oq went into hiding in subspace meditation to evade the genocidal Ascendants, who considered the Eav'oq blasphemers. They left behind search keys which when found would draw the user to Idran to reawaken the Eav'oq. For millennia the Eav'oq were considered myth until August of 2376, when Jake Sisko, Opaka Sulan and their companions visited a planet in the Idran system and activated a mechanism that brought the Eav'oq out of subspace, simultaneously moving the entire Idran system three light-years to its original position when they went into subspace at the Gamma Quadrant terminus of the wormhole. (DS9 novel: Rising Son)
The Eav'oq were later involved in the encounter between the crew of Deep Space 9 and Iliana Ghemor and her Ascendant followers. (ST - Typhon Pact novel: Plagues of Night, ST - The Fall novel: Revelation and Dust)
