Delta Theta III was a planet, the third planet of the Delta Theta system, located in the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants. It was the homeworld of a developing reptilian civilization of aborigines.
Specifics[]
The planet orbited a type A blue-white star in treaty boundary quadrant 3 South in the general vicinity of the Lactra system, the Dyson sphere-like Chatalia, and space buoys belonging to the First Federation. (ST reference: Star Trek Maps)
It appeared a nondescript green from orbit. Surface features included lakes, forests, swamps, jungles, and meadows. Plant life included trees and vines. (TAS episode: "Bem")
One of the planet's moons was spherical, while two others were irregularly shaped. Its animal life included beetles, lizards, and a type of large, shaggy, pink cat. (TAS - Log 9 novelization: Bem)
History[]
In the 2260s, a Federation drone probe detected Delta Theta III. In 2270, the starship USS Enterprise visited the world so that landing parties could hand-place monitoring sensor devices in proximity to native settlements, which would record information about the natives as well as the planet's geology and lifeforms. (TAS - Log 9 novelization: Bem)
The world's native population was being overseen and protected by a non-corporeal entity. The starship's landing party promised to quarantine the world so that the natives could develop without further alien contact. (TAS episode & Log 9 novelization: Bem)
