- Takes place between the events of Star Trek III: The Search for Spock and Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home.
- The Empire unveils a mirror-version of the Excelsior in this issue.
- The mirror counterparts of Kirk and crew are killed in this issue, except for Spock.
- The Romulans, like their counterparts in the Federation universe in this continuity, wear uniforms notably different from any other canon or non-canon comic book series (even later volumes of DC Comics).
- The story concludes in the next issue.
