The Sirens were a group of women in Greek mythology whose song was so beautiful that any man who heard it was lured to his death.

On his voyage home, Odysseus had been warned about the Sirens. He instructed his men to cover their ears, so that they would not hear the song, while their leader would be tied to the ship's mast. Although Odysseus would hear the song, he would be unable to led the ship astray.

In 2373, Harry Kim told Neelix about this story. Upon completion of the story, Thomas Paris compared the Sirens to the Taresians. (VOY: "Favorite Son")
