History

Strange Academy was a special school founded by the Sorcerer Supreme Doctor Strange following the restoration of magic, in order to train the young sorcerers of all worlds in the use of sorcery and magical artifacts.

The school was staffed by a diverse ensemble of professors to help the students perfect their abilities, and during their stay there the students could use their magic freely, without worrying about the cost of their spells. In reality, Strange had struck a deal with Hoggoth in which the magical entity would assure the school unlimited magic, as long as the children were well trained to face an upcoming challenge.

Sometime after the death of Strange, student Calvin Morse was expelled for dealing dark magic to students, causing his classmate Emily Bright to blow off going to a school dance with Doyle Dormammu to comfort Calvin. This series of events led to an altercation between Doyle and Emily, which ended with him unleashing his power on every student in the academy. After that, Emily rallied most of the students into a whole school walkout protesting their attitude toward Calvin.

At first, they stayed hidden in the Sanctum Sanctorum, but when their teachers confronted them, Emily attacked them and escaped with everyone to the Dark Dimension. As time passed, more and more students grew disillusioned with Emily's plans and returned to Strange Academy, eventually leaving only Emily and Dessy in the Dark Dimension.

Calvin, who had continued dealing in dark magic, eventually ran out of luck and needed rescue. After being saved by his former colleagues, he rejoined Strange Academy.

Before Emily and Dessy finally launched an attack against Strange Academy with Dormammu's help, they recruited other students, including Heidi. The assault was thwarted by the combined efforts of the teachers and students of Strange Academy, but not without losses, as Iric made the ultimate sacrifice. In the end, Dessy was welcomed back to Strange Academy, but Emily fled to parts unknown.
