History
Quothar stole a number of paintings from the museum until he was stopped by Daredevil.[1]
Human Fly stole a ticket to the Egyptian exhibit to make it look as if he intended to rob it later. When he returned out of costume, he set off a smoke bomb in the Egyptian exhibit so the museum's security would focus on it while he was really robbing the 'Art of Dresden' show. After battling Spider-Man, he was eventually stopped by the police with the help of a gadget provided to them by S.H.I.E.L.D.[2]
At an Egyptian exposition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Spider-Man witnessed young woman Akasha Martinez grabbing the Staff of Horus and becoming the Living Pharaoh.[3]
Akasha blasted the hero with enough power to kill him, but she could not bring herself to murder a hero and teleported away.[4]
A short time later, the fabled Hand of Mumthazi was stolen from the "Wonders of Ancient Sufind" exhibit by Jack O'Lantern.[5]
In more recent times, Spider-Man's clone, Ben Reilly, found work as a part-time night shift security officer at the museum.[6]
Eegro the Unbeatable was living on Monster Island when he heard of a monster exhibit at the Met. Curious to see his own statue, he traveled to America and paid the museum a visit, but was highly disappointed to find there wasn't a statue of him. As he began destroying the statues of the featured monsters, he caught the attention of the Thunderbolts, resulting in a confrontation between Eegro and the heroes. After things finally got cleared up, Eegro was invited to join the team.[7]
