History

Deviant Mutates are creatures, or races of creatures, created by the Deviants via genetic experimentation. A number of Mutates, particularly those of gigantic size, were created by the Deviant Kro in Subterranea, a series of underground tunnels beneath Monster Isle, as part of a larger plan for world domination. Following Kro's defeat at the hands of the Monster Hunters, would-be explorer Harvey Elder arrived on Monster Isle and was blinded when he accidentally fell into the Valley of Diamonds. Elder declared vengeance upon the world as the Mole Man, and assumed control of the Mutates.
