Carl Shanken was an aeronautical engineer and airline owner who was ousted from his company by Warren Worthington Jr. Years later he sought revenge on Worthington's son, the mutant Angel, since Worthington was dead, using a craft of his own invention by high maneuverability capable of tackling Angel's aerial maneuvers. Angel, however, managed to defeat Shanken at great risk to his safety, and after Shanken crashed his aircraft to the ground, Angel reached him and punched him, knocking him out and telling him that it was for his father.[1]
