THOR GOD OF THUNDER #19

The next big arc of THOR kicks off in February, with the return of both artist Esad Ribic and Old King Thor. Decide for yourself which is the more imposing figure. We also have the (re)introduction of a big new villain for the God of Thunder: ROXXON. It's been awhile since we've seen the Marvel U's favorite evil corporation in action, but they come roaring back in a huge way in this arc. They've even got a brand new CEO, who's so ruthless he has the nickname The Minotaur. Though I wonder if that's the only reason he has that nickname? There's also lots of S.H.I.E.L.D. action, revolving around Agent Roz Solomon, our gun-toting environmentalist who first appeared back in THOR GOD OF THUNDER #12. Plus submarines, floating islands, flying factories, and oh yeah... King Thor vs. Old Galactus! I'm pretty excited about this one.

THE LAST DAYS OF MIDGARD begin NOW!
Thor, Asgardian God of Thunder, has always fought to save his adopted home of Earth. But who can he fight when the planet itself is dying? Thor's mortal ally and environmental secret agent Roz Solomon has a few ideas. Namely the world's largest and most nefarious energy company Roxxon, and its ruthless new CEO known as "The Minotaur." Has the God of Thunder finally met his match, in the form of a multinational super-corporation? Meanwhile, many millennia ahead, a future version of Thor faces a very different battle to save what remains of the earth--a battle against the greatest villain the Marvel Universe has ever known—Galactus, the Devourer of Worlds!

THE END OF MY RUN ON WOLVERINE & THE X-MEN

As seen in the Marvel solicits for February, issue #42 will be the end of my run on WOLVERINE & THE X-MEN. The original plan was for me to write both WatXM and AMAZING X-MEN as sister titles. One dealing with the school, the other with the X-Men from that school going on adventures out in the world. But unfortunately my schedule just didn't allow that. So I've been writing the post-Battle of the Atom arc of WatXM as my goodbye to that series and to the Jean Grey School. Believe me, it wasn't easy for me to step away from this book. I've loved building that school and writing those characters, both the students and the teachers, as much as I've loved anything I've done in comics. But the school itself isn't going anywhere. And I'll still be writing a lot of those same characters over in AMAZING. And I've got lots of other stuff coming up that demanded my time, like THOR and SOUTHERN BASTARDS and some new things I can't tell you about just yet.

So I'll save all my tearful goodbyes until we get to the end, but for now, just let me say THANK YOU once again to everybody who's bought this book along the way. Thank you for embracing such an offbeat X-series. 42 issues of Bamfs and Doop and sentient lawns? I love you all for helping make that happen.

JGS forever.
