After Sanada Kazuki got done with a training session to fight the JBC featherweight champion Makunouchi Ippo, Kinoshita's daughter, Kinoshita Tsugumi, wanted to have Sanada play video games with her. Kinoshita decided against it, thinking about how tired Sanada was. During Sanada's JBC title match against Ippo, Kinoshita was Sanada's chief second. Spirit of a Weed Arc[]

Under Siege Arc[]
After the Kamogawa gym accepted Karasawa's request, Sanada appeared in the Kinoshita gym which surprised Kinoshita as he greeted him. Kinoshita trained Karasawa by repeatedly stomping on his torso to strengthen his endurance against Ippo's punches. Later, Kinoshita compared Karasawa's stomach to a rock, believing Ippo's fists would feel like a feather, though Karasawa doubted it. Hearing Karasawa mention how his legs may give out against Ippo, Kinoshita asked what would Karasawa do if he were to slow down near the end and Ippo uses his Dempsey Roll, to which Karasawa explained that he would show his courage and counter the technique. When the weigh-in arrived, Kinoshita went to the Kōrakuen Hall for the weigh-in between Karasawa and Ippo. The next day, Kinoshita went to the Kōrakuen Hall for Karasawa's JBC featherweight title match, where Kinoshita was Karasawa's chief second. The match ended in Karasawa's loss in the second round by knockout. Afterwards, when Karasawa mentioned how the towel wasn't thrown, Kinoshita apologised for not doing it since it was his duty to save his boxer. Karasawa however, felt that his feelings were saved and pleaded for Kinoshita to guide him from the beginning again.
