The Class-A Boxer Prize Money Tournament (A級ボクサー賞金トーナメント, A-kyū Bokusā Shōkin Tōnamento), or often shortened as Class A Tournament is an annual boxing tournament in Japan hosted by the Japanese Boxing Commission. It is a tournament for boxers who have had eight or more matches and a Class-A license. Class-A boxers are boxers who are qualified to fight six rounds or more.
It starts in summer and the finals are held eleven months later. The winner becomes ranked first in the JBC and takes part in the Champion Carnival, where the national champion has to defend his title against the winner.[1]
Matches in the Class A Tournament go between six rounds and ten rounds. If there is a decision draw, the boxers would fight an extra round to determine the winner.
While the rule is that the boxer has to have more than eight matches on their record to enter, there has been times where a boxer with less than eight has entered the tournament.
