The Bullet (弾丸, Dangan, also written as "バレット", Baretto), is a powerful left jab which Ryūhei Sawamura throws by twisting both his shoulder and his wrist inwards.
Usage[]
Sawamura only performs this technique in his unorthodox stance that looks as if he is pointing a gun at his opponent, in which his left arm is already halfway extended toward the opponent. When he throws the Bullet, he straightens his left arm out, and twists his wrist, forearm, and shoulder inward, toward his chest. When he pulls back his fist, his arm remains halfway extended, ready to throw the Bullet again.
it is a highly compact, rapid punch due to the positioning of the arm. Because of the twisting motion, it focuses the power to a single point that makes it have a high penetrating power, and is able to cause damage through a guard.[1]
It requires a lot of training, technique, and a strong wrist and shoulder. This jab is similar to the Corkscrew Blow; however, unlike the Corkscrew, it is a left instead of the usual right and can be thrown in rapid succession due to the positioning of the lead arm. It is a form of out-boxing and counter-boxing at the same time, since it gives more weight to normal jabs and baits the opponent to slip around it and press toward the body, where Sawamura's right will be waiting.
The Bullet can be dodged by a quick enough opponent by weaving and can be blocked with a Cross-Arm Block.[2]
