Martin James Pflieger Schienle[1] (lahir 30 Juli 1982),[2][3] dikenal secara profesional sebagai Martin Starr, adalah seorang aktor asal Amerika. Dia dikenal untuk perannya di televisi sebagai Bill Haverchuck pada drama komedi Freaks and Geeks (1999–2000), Roman DeBeers di serial komedi Party Down (2009–2010, 2023), Bertram Gilfoyle di serial HBO series Silicon Valley (2014–2019), untuk perannya di film di Knocked Up (2007) dan Adventureland (2009), dan sebagai Roger Harrington di film-film Marvel Cinematic Universe, The Incredible Hulk (2008), Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), dan Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021).
Kehidupan pribadi
[sunting | sunting sumber]Starr lahir di Santa Monica, California, anak dari aktris Jean St. James.[4] Dia menganut agama Buddha.[5] Pada sebuah wawancara dengan Wired, Starr mengatakan bahwa dia merasa "frustasi dan depresi" ketika berusia 22 karena kurangnya tawaran setahun setelah Freaks and Geeks dibatalkan. Dia memecat agennya dan memutuskan untuk berhenti akting bersamaan; namun, beberapa tahun kemudian dia ditawari peran di Knocked Up, dan tawaran lainnya mulai muncul dihadapannya.[6]
Pada Mei 2024, Starr menikahi Alex Gehring, basis dari band Ringo Deathstarr.[7]
Karir
[sunting | sunting sumber]Starr dipilih untuk memerankan Bill Haverchuck di serial sitkom NBC berjudul Freaks and Geeks. Serial ini menerima ulasan positif dari kritikus, namun kemudian menerima rating rendah dan dibatalkan hanya setelah satu musim.[8] Serial tersebut memperoleh pengikut aliran yang kuat.[9] Starr kemudian mendapatkan banyak penampilan bintang tamu dan peran satu kali pada acara seperti Ed, Mysterious Ways, Providence, King of the Hill, dan Normal, Ohio. Dia mendapatkan sebuah peran kecil berulang pada musim ketiga Roswell sebagai karakter Monk. Pada 2002, Starr muncul pada film Stealing Harvard dan Cheats. Dia bereuni dengan produser dan sesama bintang Freaks and Geeks, produser Judd Apatow dan Seth Rogen ketika dia menjadi bintang tamu di komedi situasi arahan Apatow Undeclared pada episode "The Perfect Date". Dari 2009 hingga 2010, Starr merupakan pemain regular memerankan karakter Roman DeBeers pada sitkom Starz, Party Down.
