Robert Bosch GmbH is a Germany-based multinational engineering and technology company. Bosch is a major player in the fields of mobility, consumer goods, industrial technology, and energy and building technology. Its products range from motor vehicle parts, and security and microelectromechanical systems, to household appliances and power tools. The company generated total revenue of around 91.6 billion euros in 2023. Despite having a large international presence, Europe remains Bosch’s main market, contributing more than 50 percent to the company’s total revenue in 2023. In the same year, the company incurred research and development costs of around 7.3 billion euros.
In 2022, Bosch was ranked as the world's largest automotive supplier with automotive segment revenue of 52.6 billion euros. Bosch’s main competitors in the automotive supply market include Germany-based Continental and ZF Friedrichshafen, as well as Japanese Denso Corporation and Canadian Magna International.

Bosch’s mobility division constitutes an important segment of the company. In 2023, almost 60 percent of the company’s total revenue was generated by the Mobility Solutions division. Unique to Bosch is its corporate structure. Despite employing some 429,000 employees worldwide along with generating sizeable revenues, Bosch is still privately owned. In fact, the company is almost entirely owned by a charitable foundation Robert Bosch Stiftung, which allows for shareholder profits to be doled out to charitable causes. The charity funds projects in the fields of culture, education, healthcare, and social and natural sciences.
