Saudi Aramco reported a workforce of approximately 70.5 thousand employees in 2022, up from approximately 56 thousand employees in 2011. Saudi Aramco has the world's second-largest crude oil reserves and the highest oil production per day among oil companies.

Oil reserves in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia's oil reserves were 40.9 billion metric tons in 2020. Saudi Arabia has one of the world's largest oil reserves, accounting for roughly one-fifth of the world's conventional oil sources. OPEC member countries hold the majority of proven crude oil reserves in the world, accounting for 80.4 percent of total crude oil reserves as of 2021. OPEC stands for the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries. Saudi Arabia had the second largest share of reserves that year, following Venezuela. Furthermore, the Middle East held the majority of OPEC's oil reserves, accounting for 67.1 percent of the total.

Volume of crude oil exports

In 2020, the leading region of Saudi Aramco's crude oil exports was Asia and the Far East with 2.69 billion barrels. This was around two quarters of Saudi Aramco's global exports. In comparison, only three percent of Saudi Aramco's crude oil exports went to Africa.
