In July 2024, the canton of Geneva had the highest unemployment rate in Switzerland at 4.2 percent. In second place followed the canton of Jura with an unemployment rate of four percent. In contrast, the canton of Appenzell Inner Rhodes recorded the lowest unemployment rate among the cantons at only 0.6 percent, while the average unemployment rate in Switzerland was around 2.3 percent.

Registered unemployed persons are persons who are registered with a regional employment center, do not have a job and can be placed immediately. It is irrelevant whether these persons receive unemployment benefits or not.
