Digitalization in the EU: digital intensity of large enterprises 2022

The digital intensity of large companies in the European Union is at a relatively high level in most member states, with a few notable exceptions. Digital intensity measures the availability of digital technologies such as internet access, high-speed broadband, recourse to ICT specialists, among other things, at the company level. The Nordic member states of the EU, Denmark, Finland, and Sweden, are the leaders in terms of digital intensity, with only 0.4 percent of large companies in Finland having very low digital intensity in the workplace.

On the other end of the spectrum are some of the EU's newest member states like Bulgaria and Romania, who report between 40-45 percent of their large firms having low or very digital intensity in their workplaces. On average, over 80 percent of EU companies have high digital intensity as of 2022.
