According to a recent survey that asked people in Northern Ireland what they thought the long-term policy of Northern Ireland should be, approximately 37 percent of people thought that Northern Ireland should remain part of the UK, but with a devolved government. By comparison, 30 percent of people thought that Northern Ireland should seek to unify with the rest of Ireland, while seven percent thought Northern Ireland should be an independent state.
